Extended Service Life Filter Bags are designed for industrial liquid filtration applications where higher dirt-holding capacity, longer service life and fewer filter change-outs are required. The product range includes POXL polypropylene extended-life filter bags, PEXL polyester extended-life filter bags and Dual Flow filter bags.
The POXL and PEXL designs use special needle-punched fabric structures to increase the available pore space and improve contaminant loading capacity without significantly affecting the initial pressure drop. Compared with traditional standard PO and PE filter bags, the thicker fabric or gradient-density construction can retain more contaminants before replacement is required.
Three design options are available. The first option uses one thick layer of POXL or PEXL needle-punched fabric. The second option uses two layers of POXL or PEXL fabric, with higher air permeability in the inner layer than in the outer layer to create a gradient-density structure. The third option is a Dual Flow filter bag, which combines an inner filter bag with a traditional standard filter bag so that liquid is filtered through both flow paths.
The Dual Flow design allows filtration through the outer bag from the inside outward and through the inner bag from the outside inward. According to the supplied product news document, the filtration area can increase by approximately 75%–80% compared with a traditional standard filter bag. The document also states that the flow rate can be doubled because the inner and outer filter bags participate in filtration simultaneously. These performance figures should be confirmed for the selected bag, housing, liquid and operating conditions before publication as guaranteed specifications.
POXL uses polypropylene extended-life needle-punched fabric and is intended for applications with working temperatures below 80°C. PEXL uses polyester extended-life needle-punched fabric and is intended for applications with working temperatures below 120°C. The final material selection should be based on chemical compatibility, temperature, pressure, flow rate and contaminant characteristics.
| Material | Description | Working Temperature | Micron Ratings Indicated in the Source Material |
|---|---|---|---|
| POXL | Polypropylene Extended Life Needle-Punched Fabric Filter Bag | <80°C | 0.2–200 μm selection range indicated on the source and product page |
| PEXL | Polyester Extended Life Needle-Punched Fabric Filter Bag | <120°C | 0.5–200 μm selection range indicated on the source and product page |
The supplied product news document states that filtration efficiency is between 50% and 95%, depending on the selected micron rating. The test liquid, particle type, test method and operating conditions are not provided.
